Monad (MON) Falls Toward $0.02 as Airdrop Selling Intensifies — Can the Token Recover or Is $0.01 Next?
Monad’s newly launched token MON is facing intense downward pressure as airdrop recipients continue selling into the market. With MON now trading near $0.02, uncertainty is rising over whether the token can stabilize or if a deeper decline is likely.
The sell-off has become severe enough to trigger major losses for leveraged traders. One whale who opened a MON long position on October 8 at $0.1449 is now sitting on a floating loss exceeding $700,000, even after partially closing the trade. This highlights the overall weakness surrounding the token’s early price action.
Why Is MON Price Falling?
High Initial Valuation and Large Circulating Supply
The public sale price for MON on Coinbase was $0.025, and many traders regard this as the fair-value anchor. At launch, nearly 10.8 billion MON—roughly 10.8% of the total supply—entered circulation. With the full supply sitting at 100 billion tokens, concerns remain high about long-term dilution.
Monad does feature a low annual inflation rate of around 2%, and part of its transaction fees are burned. However, these mechanisms are not strong enough to offset the heavy initial supply entering the market.
Airdrop Recipients Are Selling Aggressively
Continuous selling from airdrop claimants is the primary source of downward pressure. Many holders are happy to exit between $0.02 and $0.04, creating a liquidity wall that stops any upward momentum.
Market conditions have made the situation worse. As Bitcoin drifts toward $85,000, traders have shifted into risk-off mode. With the holiday season approaching, more investors are cashing out rather than taking new risks. If selling pressure strengthens, analysts warn that MON could fall below $0.02 and potentially test the $0.01 level.
Pre-Market Expectations Were Too Optimistic
Before MON’s official exchange debut, the token traded on platforms like Hyperliquid with valuations implying a $12–$14 billion fully diluted value (FDV). Many early analysts expected MON to launch somewhere between $0.04 and $0.065, supported by hype around its EVM-compatible, high-performance architecture.
Some market watchers forecasted consolidation around $0.03 to $0.045, but the current range near $0.02 shows selling pressure has been stronger than anticipated.
Technical Outlook Shows Clear Weakness
MON’s chart continues to form lower highs and lower lows, a classic sign of bearish structure. While MON recently moved above the 20-day EMA and is testing the 50-day EMA, there is still no strong reversal signal on the chart.
The token had an early pump in pre-market trading on Hyperliquid, but that rally reversed sharply. With 10 billion tokens already circulating and a market cap near $275 million, even small increases in sell volume can push the price down rapidly.
Long-Term Potential Remains, but Adoption Is Key
Despite its shaky start, Monad still offers long-term potential. Its high-speed Layer-1 architecture combined with full EVM compatibility makes it an attractive option for developers. If the ecosystem grows and more dApps launch on the chain, MON may eventually recover.
However, short-term price action will remain heavily influenced by token unlocks, airdrop selling, and overall market sentiment.
Monad (MON) Price Prediction
Short-Term (1–3 Months): Bearish
MON is likely to remain under pressure as airdrop selling continues. The token could revisit $0.01, with only a temporary bounce toward $0.025–$0.030 if Bitcoin stabilizes.
Mid-Term (3–6 Months): Neutral to Slightly Bullish
As ecosystem incentives develop and more exchanges list MON, sentiment may improve. In this period, the token could trade between $0.025 and $0.050, revisiting its public-sale zone if demand increases.
Long-Term (1–2 Years): High Risk, High Reward
If Monad gains adoption and decentralized applications begin to grow on the network, MON could gradually recover. In favorable conditions, the price may move toward $0.10–$0.25, with $0.30–$0.50+ possible during a strong bull phase.
