What is Dogecoin (DOGE)?
Dogecoin (DOGE) is based on the popular internet meme "doge" and features a dog in its logo. This open-source digital currency was created by Billy Marcus of Portland, Oregon and Jackson Palmer of Sydney, Australia, and was forked from Litecoin in December 2013. Dogecoin's creators envisioned it as a fun and light-hearted cryptocurrency that would have a greater impact beyond Bitcoin's core audience, as it was based on a dog meme. Tesla CEO Elon Musk has tweeted several times on social media that Dogecoin is his favorite coin.
